#30: The Death of Tupac Shakur
Everyone knows who Tupac Shakur is, even if you have never heard his music. Tupac is considered one of the most influential rap artists of our time and has made a significant dent in the music industry. Fighting for inequality in low-socioeconomic neighborhoods as well as addressing social issues and activism, he wasn’t just an artist but also a revolutionary. With 11 studio albums, Tupac left a real legacy behind that went on to influence the generations that came after him. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to completely rid himself of all the things he was trying so hard to fight against.

On September 7, 1996, Tupac attended Mike Tyson’s boxing match in Las Vegas with the CEO of Death Row Records, Suge Knight. As they were leaving the match, the two got into a fight with Compton-based Southside gang members, but once the fight was broken up, Tupac and Knight took off in Knight’s car. A white Cadillac pulled up and shot Tupac four times as they were stopped at an intersection and grazed Knight’s head. When police showed up at the scene, Tupac still had consciousness, and they proceeded to ask him, “Who shot you”? But he was unable to respond. Tupac was put into a medically induced coma but later died on September 13, 1996, as a result of his injuries. No one has ever been made a suspect, and no arrests have ever been made in this case. Considering that he was one of the most influential rappers of all time, it is a serious mystery…
