#10: The Disappearance of Harold Holt
Whenever something strange or mysterious happens, no one expects it to happen to someone famous or in the spotlight. However, fate doesn’t discriminate based on profession or standing in society… It might be hard to believe, but one of Australia’s prime ministers, Harold Holt, went for a swim in the ocean on December 17th, 1967, and never came out of the water. Holt was joined by six other people that day on the beach. However, only one other person joined him in the water as the others stated that the swimming conditions didn’t look safe.
All the witnesses claim they saw Holt swim further until he went under the waves and never came back up. The Victorian police were quickly alerted, and a search part of 340 personnel searched for the prime minister. But on January 7th of, 1968, the search party was called off as Holt was assumed dead. But in recent years, many have thought of many theories as to why Holt disappeared… Perhaps it was an assassination by the CIA, or that he faked his own death…
