A Guide to Happiness According to Ikigai
Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being”; a concept that refers to something that gives a person a sense of purpose and meaning. The graph below breaks down the components of Ikigai. According to Ikigai, our purpose in life, or reason for being, is comprised of four aspects: what we love, what were are good at, what we can get paid for, and what the world needs.

Those aspects are broken down into smaller components: what we love – passion; what we’re good at – profession; what we can get paid for – vocation; and what the world needs – mission. If you pursue your passion and life’s mission, you’re supposed to feel satisfied, full, and comfortable.
