Too many home cooks these days think they are famous chefs. The popularity of shows like Masterchef and Bake-off has led to many amateurs undertaking all sorts of ventures in molecular gastronomy, turning various foodstuffs into gels, purees, and essences, and yes… Trying to make foods look like other foods.

In this case, while it may not be the most appetizing cake ever seen, I’d probably put this cake into the category of cute. The attempt was not incredibly successful, but the idea had potential. It’s like the maker said, “Well, I’m not going to actually convince anyone it’s a Sunday roast – I’ll just give them the idea of one.” Cute.
